CUPE 1251

STRIKE SUPPORT MESSAGES

[Jan 20, 2008 07:24 PM]

To the Brothers and Sisters of CUPE 1251

On behalf of our over 3200 members, CUPE 3903 stands in solidarity with and wholeheartedly supports our brothers and sisters in CUPE 1251. We contend that the issue which is currently driving the bargaining of your members - a fair wage for all members of the local - require a real response by the employer that meets the needs of the workers involved.

We insist that the employer undertake bargaining in good faith and that it begin to treat its childcare workers with the respect they deserve. Workers who dedicate their time to the public services are part of the backbone of our social system and deserve our full support for the service they render. The daily work that the members of CUPE 1251 undertake is important to other workers who depend on their work and service that they provide. It is in the best interest of the employer to quickly arrive at a satisfactory solution that respects the dignity and the more than reasonable demands of the members of CUPE 1251. We look forward to the successful outcome of the labour action which CUPE 1251 is currently involved in, and look forward to a resolution that is favourable to the real needs of your membership. In Solidarity, Graham Potts, Recording Secretary 3903

On Behalf of the 3903 Executive

Stay strong Brothers and Sisters.

Warm Regards from the West Coast!

Greetings Brothers and Sisters: Just to let you know that we support you in your fight for fairness.Keep up the good fight and may you be victorious. I was born and raised in Saint John,N.B so I can understand what you are up against. All the best. In Solidarity, --Hugh Cullinan CUPE 454

I am writing with great concern. I am currently a student of the New Brunswick Community College. The CUPE 1251 strike is affecting all students of the community college. I am supporting the workers and agree that the pay is not fair based on others salaries. Myself, along with all other students are being affected the most. We pay to gain an education. We are missing out on valuable class time. I understand that the government has not cooperated or failed to do so in a timely manner. I am writing to show my support. I was wondering if you could tell me who I could contact within the government to voice my concerns. I am a very proactive member of my school and plan to show my support to the custodians of the school. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing back from you.--- NBCC Student
