Press Release

Why Stay in New Brunswick?

FREDERICTON– Custodians from NB Housing & the New Brunswick Community Colleges, Correctional Officers from the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety & Human Service Councilors from Family and Community Services have been unable to reach a mutual agreement through the assistance of a Commissioner.

It is evident that the New Brunswick Government is not serious about keeping New Brunswickers here in New Brunswick.

We have had 25 days of face to face negotiations and five days of intensive negotiations with the help of a Commissioner Brian Bruce.

The Government is not interested in equal pay for equal work at this point in time. With Alberta Corrections interviewing NB Correctional Officers, it’s hard to understand why the province has taken this position, considering Premier Shawn Graham wants people to stay in this province.

During this difficult process our members remain committed to the highest possible protection, safety and education of the people of New Brunswick.
