Committee Members:
We commenced Negotiations on March 13 2007 , to date we have met with the employer a total of days. We arrived at a deadlock in Negotiations on 22. To date, we have maintained our benefits , and have achieved gains in the area of health and safety.
We continue have major differences in the areas of wage adjustments for all groups , length of contract term and annual % increases , and classification issues. We have mutually agreed to apply to the Labor board to appoint a commissioner. The expected date for presenting our case to the commissioner will be late summer , early fall.
This process consists of a period of time of up to 8 days maximum , where by an appointed commissioner hears the presentations of both parties , and prepares a non binding a report with 30 days of the presentations. Once we have received the report we will have special meeting throughout the province with the members at witch time the members will vote on this report.
